Problem rendering embedded HTML when using a squid proxy

Hello:

I've searched the newsgroups and web for this problem, but I don't see any
other reports of it.

I'm on Mac OS X 10.4.9, Entourage 2004 (latest patch) and my networking is
Configured to go through a squid proxy for http & https.

When I receive an email with embedded html (esp: pictures which are served
from an external web server), entourage begins to render the pictures, and
then stops. It eventually gets around to rendering the entire picture, but
it can take 10-15 minutes.

The exact same email using MacOS Mail doesn't experience this problem.

When I configure my networking to bypass the proxy, entourage has no problem
rendering the pictures embedded in the email.

The proxy server is not showing any load significant load.

Can anyone help?
