Problem transfering calendar to IPOD

O

Oris DePuy

I am using Outlook 2007 and cannot transfer the scheduled items to my IPOD
30gb video. The contacts from Outlook transfered without a problem. Am I
doing something wrong or is the new Outlook not compatible with IPOD?

You would need to ask in an iPod group on the Apple forums.

After furious head scratching, Oris DePuy asked:

I have a 4GB IPod Nano which under Windows XP and Outlook 2003 both the
Calendar and Contacts sync'd flawlessly. However, after getting Windows Vista
and Outlook 2007 the Calendar no longer syncs.

I contacted Apple directly and after an hour and a half on the phone with
them they told me it is a Microsoft issue and to contact Microsoft.

Sorry - but Apple is less than forthcoming on this problem. And you have some issues yourself as you now are asking about a 4 GB Nano while your original question was about a 30 GB iPod Video.

Synchronization is always the purview of the software used to sync. Outlook has no native synching ability. It is simply the vessel from which the synch software pulls the information to copy to the device used for storing the copied information. The iPod and the Nano both use the iTunes software which was written by Apple and is supported by Apple, not Microsoft.

Again, check the Apple forums for answers. Users are usually smarter than Apple..

I actually have no issues as *I* have a 4 GB Nano while the original poster,,
Oris DePuy, was asking about his IPOD 30gb video. I was only responding to
your answer to him because I *had* approached Apple *directly* and after an
hour and half on the telephone and just as I was to be transferred to the
second-tier technical support the rep with whom I was dealing was instructed
to tell me that she had done more troubleshooting that she ought to have and
that I (the user) should contact Microsoft as the reason for the inability to
sync Outlook 2007 to an iPod is a Microsoft issue.

Had you paid adequate attention to my post, you might have not been quite so
discourteous in saying "And you have some issues yourself as you now are
asking about a 4 GB Nano while your original question was about a 30 GB iPod
Video." At least the Apple rep refrained from such unwarranted sarcasm.

To your other point, I have accessed the Apple forums and to date no
answers, reliable hacks, or workarounds have been found.

If I mistakenly confused you with the original poster, I apologize. It is one reason to not hijack posts as it becomes confusing for both the original poster and the responder (me).

You will still need to apply to Apple for any fixes as it is still their program (iTunes) that does the synching, not anything from Microsoft. You may also want to check the google groups archive to see if this issue has been addressed successfully.

Check out this link for info on how to do a direct export-- unfortunately, it
is only for one event at a time and therefore very time intensive.
