Problem using Office!

I'm not very computor literate so this has really got me confused! I'll start
from the beginning, Outlook would freeze when I tried to download my hotmail
messages, it did work sometimes but often it would freeze and close, I sent
an error report and it told me I should install Office Service Pack 3, which
I then tried to do, but then I realized I didnt have the disk for Office with
me so I cancelled it as it said I would need the disk. Ever since I did this
when I try to reply to an email, or open up Word, it would ask me for the
product key code, so I would enter the code and it would tell me it is the
wrong one! Which it isnt! I have tried uninstalling Office and installing
again, twice and its still doing it! I have also tried system restore to a
week ago and that also didnt work! I am at the end of my tether as I am a
student and need to use Word especially, for assignments. Please can anyone
help me?!

Did your computer come installed with Microsoft Works Suite? If so
then Word may be requesting the product key from the Works
installation so try that product key instead. Also, IIRC, in
Add/Remove Programs you'll see an installation for Word and one for
Office.

If you find this to be the case then I would uninstall Word and
reinstall it using your Office CD or you'll be likely to continue
encountering similar problems since your Office applications are
installed from two difference sources.
