Problem When Saving As...

John

I am having a difficulty. When I open a workbook, or template, after modifying it, I receive a message that says the folder I am trying to save it to is not accessible. The error message says, "The folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password or the filename may contain a / or \" The filenames do not contain a / or \ and the locations are not password protected or unavailable. The oddest part is that this only happens sometimes. Anyone know what's wrong?

Just a guess:

Any chance you're saving to a LAN drive that maybe got disconnected? Maybe your
IT department rebooted it when you were working????

If you get the message, can you save to your local pc's harddrive?

Yes, I'm sure that's part of it. I can save to the local drive, but, so far as I know, the LAN drive is fully accessible in all areas. It's just Microsoft Office that does this.

Next time it happens, maybe you can open notepad and see if you save a text
document to the same drive.

If you can, quickly back to excel/word/etc and see if you can save then.

(I don't have a better guess.)
