Problem with auto number field (More Info)

I did some more testing today after ensuring that the Win
XP machine where the problem is reproducable had all of
the lattest patches (Windows, office and jet).

The problem is still there. However, on my workstation
(win 2000) the autonumber works as advertised AFTER I
append a record with a higher ID than exists in the
table...weird!
