Problem with Drawing Straight Vertical lines on a Chart

B

bruce

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have created a chart. I have drawn free from lines on this chart. I need these line to be vertical and straight. They will not go straight, no matter how slowly and precisely I use my mouse. This is especially noticeable when the line are small. When I try to make them truly vertical, they "hop" across the point I left the mouse to make them non-straight.

I would be more than happy to email you a copy of the file, so as to see if you have the same problem.

Has anyone experienced a problem like this?

Use the shift key. THis is pretty much a standard GUI method -- holding
down the shift key will restrain freehand drawings to vertical,
horizontal, etc.

But may I recommend instead that you refrain from freehand additions to
graphs? They will not scale or track if the graph is resized or
rescaled. Far better to create a new series from four cells in a
workbook sheet. For a vertical line,:

X Y
xvalue value<minimum Y on chart
xvalue value > max Y on chart.

Thank Cair - works fine. I have always be a bit confused as to use the shift key or the command key on the Mac keyboard.
