Problem with email filters no longer working

About a month ago, my Outlook 2000 started acting up and the filtering has
gone astray after working perfectly for over 2 years.

The problem is that the email will filter into the various segments that it
should, but it also has decided to leave a duplicate in my email accounts (I
use 3 different ones). This of course negates any advantage that filtering
has.

I have tried deleting the filter rules, and reinstating them, I have tried
altering them, I have tried setting a different email account as the default,
and none of it has helped.

Anyone else run across this problem? What did you do to fix it.
