Problem with "export to excel"

Dear all,

I've got a problem with the "export to excel" facility. I want to export
Actual costs spread across months.

For example, I have one activity with an actual cost of £9.5 and 3 months
duration. The ACWP gets exported as £9.5 PER MONTH up to the status date.
The Actual Cost figure gets exported as £9.5 for the first month and then
nothing for the remaining 2 months duration on this activity. What I would
hope to see is the £9.5 prorated across the 3 months duration of this
activity.

Does anybody have any ideas here?

It sounds like your status date is one month into the task and you have only
posted actuals for work during the first month. Actuals accrue on the date
that they are posted to and don't spread over the unworked portion of the
task. The earned value measures of BCWS, BCWP, and ACWP are cumulative
metrics and reflect conditions up to but not beyond the status date. If my
budgeted cost of a three month task is $300 and I've done 1 month of work,
the ACWP as of the end of the 1st month is $100. Now I do no further work
on the task for a month. My ACWP at the end of the 2nd month is still $100
because I haven't done any more work, nothing accrued during the 2nd month
just past and so nothing was added to the cumulative total. OTOH, if I have
done the work we had scheduled for the 2nd month, it would be $200.

If you need to see the mean cost per month from task start up to completion,
instead of using the ACWP field, include the Actual cost field, sum it for
the task and divide by the duration over in Excel.
