Problem With Form/Subform

Access 2003 desktop application .......

When I try to open a form/subform I get the message:
"Could not use <name of backend file>; file already in use."
What could be causing this message to appear?

If I click OK, the form opens with just a blank space for the subform. If I
remove the control source from the subform control, the main form opens
correctly. I can open the subform by itself with no problem.

I have rebuilt the form/subform and get the same message.

I've seen this happen when the "locking" file wasn't deleted by the
application after shut down. It could happen if the application locked up
and you used the Task Manager to shut it down.

If you open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location of the database
file, if neither you nor any other user is using the app, you shouldn't have
a "locking" file (NOTE: earlier versions of Access did NOT clean up their
locking files ... and you haven't described which version you are using...).

If someone is using the app, and you try to delete the locking file, I don't
believe Access will allow that.

Thanks for any ideas!

A fairly easy problem to solve. My suggestion is to contact PC Datasheet,
*the* Access "resource". His fees are very reasonable and modest. None of
the dimwits here can help that's for sure.
