Problem with highlight on Placeholder

Can anyone help please?

I'm working off a template created elsewhere and when I click into a
Placeholder to add text it highlights in grey. This is OK when you are typing
but devillishly difficult when you are trying to edit (and can't see where
the cursor is).

How do I switch it back to the more normal operation where the placeholder
remains white as you type / edit?

It's affected by the background color. See Echo's tutorial on color schemes:
http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes2.htm and try changing the background
to a different color.

Are you using PPT 97 or 2000? I ask because this problem was fixed in, oh,
PPT 2002, I think it was. I *know* it's fixed in 2003, anyway.

Regardless, the problem here is the color scheme -- the background in the
color scheme is the same as the text. Probably you have a picture in the
background, which tends to make people not pay attention to the background
color in the color scheme.

You need to change your background or text color to something contrasting.
That may mess up other things in your slides, depending how things have been
