Problem with Multi-tabbed forms with nested subforms

I inherited a application that is using 2007 Multi-tabbed forms with 4
nested subforms on several of the tabs to navigate through the 4 related
tables.
The tables have a growing number of records causing the subforms to
crowd the screen. It is becoming more and more difficult to navigate
down through the 4 tables on some of the tabs, having to use the scroll
bars to try to get portions of the subforms on the screen.
I am hoping to possibly open the subforms in new windows, but it is not
obvious if that might be done?
Is there a way to change something to allows a better operator interface?
