Problem with Navigation Pane

J

John Dracy

I imported email folders from Outlook 2003 on my laptop
to my desktop. After doing the import, the navigation
pane on my desktop now shows the Personal Folders 7
times. All 7 are pointing to the same folder and show
exactly the same contents. I cannot close any of them.

I have tried re-creating the main PST file, with no
change. I tried searching the registry for any settings
that might be causing this, but didn't find anything
obvious. I have uninstalled and re-installed Office, with
no change. Any suggestions on what happened and how it
can be corrected?

You've corrupted your e-mail profile.

Create a new profile (do not copy it);
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

To access your current pst-file in the new profile;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

To set it as the default delivery location;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...-> button Next-> use the dropdownlist below

-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Thanks, Roady. That did the trick.
