problem with opening files in Office 2003 after upgrading from 97

I can't open my old files and I can creat new ones but can't open those.
here is what I get when I open an excel. The File cannot be opened because
your virus scanner has detected a problem with the file. And when I open
word it just says file is not avaiable. Please help
