Problem with previous action button

I have created a presentaion in PowerPoint 2004 and put two action
buttons on the master slide so that they work
for the entire presentation: A previous button and a next button. The
Next button works properly but for the previous button, at one point,
around every 10 slides, it works in a random fashion, jumping to any
previously viewed slide and then getting stuck jumping between the
two.

I already set the action to hyperlink with previous slide. I also
tried to open the file with Powerpoint 2003 and 2002, the problem
still exists. Can anyone provide me with a solution to this problem?

Did you set it to Previous slide or Last Slide Viewed? Previous should
just go from slide 10 to 9 to 8 to 7 to ... Last Slide Viewed does not
work like a browser's Back button. Instead it works like a tv remote's
back button, literally going to the last slide viewed. If you had gone
from slide 9 to 10 and hit a Last Slide Viewed button several times, it
would take you from 10 to 9 to 10 to 9 to 10 to 9 to ...

Thank you for your reply. I've set it to Previous slide. For example,
when I hit the Previous button, it goes from slide 10 to 9 to 8 to 7
to 6 to 5 to 6 to 5 to 6... then I change to hit Next button, it works
properly from 6 to 7 to 8... then I hit the Previous button again, it
goes 9 to 10 to 11... then I hit Next again, it works properly from 12
to 13 to 14... then I hit Previous again, it goes 13 to 12 to 11 to 10
to 9 to 8 to 7 to 8 to 7..., the problem is a loop like that. Could
you please figure it out why?

This is very strange. I'm not sure why it is happening. Are there custom
shows or hidden slides? Are there any buttons besides the ones on the
master slide? Do you have multiple slide masters?

Thank you again for your reply. I've fixed the problem manually. Actually, my
presentation is very simple. There're totally 76 pages, only text and no
other links besides the buttons Previous and Next.

However, I tried to put action button on the pages that stuck, even if I
already set the action button on slide master. For example, I click previous
button from slide 10 to 9 to 8 to 7 to 6 to 7 to 6... I put action button on
the previous button manually on slide 6 and 7 then I run slide show to test
and it turned out to work properly from 7 to 6 to 5...
