Problem with PST File

S

ScottDH

I Am trying to import a .pst file into a new Outlook profile but when I try
to do this I get the following error:

File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the
file outlook.pst

All the permissions on the file are ok.

If I try to open the file in Outlook I get the same error.

I've tried running scanpst.exe on the file which says that it has found
errors, however if I repair these errors using the utility I end up with just
an empty deleted items folder within the .pst file.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to recover this .pst file?
The contents are very important!!

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide....

Regards

Scott.

How did you create this file? Did you copy it onto a medium where it would
have acquired a read only attribute?
Why are you importing it? It's in native Outlook format. Just open it.

Hi

Thanks for your reply....

The file was written to CD.... Although tt doesn't have the Read Only
Attribute set.

I only tried importing the file because I had problems opening it.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Scott.

Hi, can I join in this - because this is exactly what happened to me - I
exported the pst file to my desktop then saved it to the CD and I get the
same message,

File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the
file outlook.pst

I have marked this thread "Notify me of replies" so if you can help ScottDH,
you will probably help me.
