Problem with report containing photos

I have successfully imported links to 6600 photos and can display 1, but when
I try to do a whole report, even for a few hundred, it takes forever. Is
this generally a problem with Access? Do I need to make the pictures smaller?

Before I start endless hours of trying different things, I thought I'd ask
the question to see if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks, Joanne

Hi

Access is not the best programme for this (hundreds of photograhs) as it
will send the report to print server in one go - most gaphics packages
(photoshop, Photopaint, etc) will send the file in "slices". You may want to
export the file (in stead of printing). Use a graphics package to print the
report.

Have a look at the page for a few ideas by Toni Troyes

Thanks, I have been trawling the help pages for ages and couldn't find
anything. I had a feeling Access wouldn't be right, but wanted a quick
option. I will look into the options you have suggested - I've got Photoshop.

Thanks again,

Joanne

If you have photoshop you should have pagemaker as well - use this as the
export target and print from that.

This said for hundreds of photos I would export the path and not the
picture. Pagemaker and coreldraw both will allow the inserting of liunked
paths. This will show up as the picture in your preview but it is only the
path that is actuall in the file. The path is only linked in
preview/design/print and so your file should be smaller (much smaller than an
access table)
