Problem with "Save As" Word 2002

C

Cheryl Kammer

Once I have been in my document for a period of time and I click on Save As,
I get the following error message:

Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close.
The Error Signature reads as follows:
APPName: winword.exe APPVersion: 10.0.5815.0
Mod Name: Unknown Mod Ver: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00690074

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you applied the latest Service Pack and patches for Word 2002?

This is a symptom that some third party application has installed its own
macros to replace the normal AutoSave command. Take a look in Macros and see
if there are any AutoSave or similar named macros installed.

I did take a look and I do not see anything out of t ordinary. Any are
suggestions?

Well any macro that you didn't create or knowingly installed must be
suspect. Also, you may have a third party add-in that is causing this
conflict: see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm for
details of how to find add-ins.

I still cannot locate a macro that would be causing this problem. Would it
be beneficial to uninstall and re-install the program again?

Reinstalling never helps as the uninstalling process doesn't remove user or
third party add-ins or macros, etc. You need to find it and remove it from
your computer. As a test, if you start Word in Safe Mode, do you still get
the problem. From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will start in Safe Mode: test it and see if you still
have the problem in safe mode.

It seemed to be working fine while I was in safe mode. Is there a way to
run it with the set-up that is in safe mode?
