Problem with "Save As"

When trying to "save as" the "save in" location goes blank
for approx. 30/45 seconds. The mouse and everything else
is unusable until the window is populated. After the
window is populated, Word 2000 remembers these
destinations for about 5 minutes. If Word is opened and
this option is tried again, it takes another 30/45 seconds
until the window is populated and during that time,
nothing works, basically the PC is hung. Any help to fix
this appreciated.

Install the latest Service Pack and Patches for Word 2000.

This is mostly caused by either a broken or invalid mapped driver or FTP
shortcut in one of the folders you are trying to access.
