problem with search

Have you tried installing the search feature
into the live " published" web with it opened in FrontPage??

Steve,

Thank you for the help.

I am not sure I understand what you want to me to do. But I did try this:
ran FP on the web server, created a search page called search.htm under the
same folder of the web site. When tested it, I got "FrontPage Run-Time
Component Page" and the original search page still the same. Is this what
you want me to do?

Bob,

Did you have the site open on the server in FP via http when you did this?

Hi Thomas,

Now, this time I tried two different ways.

1. Ran FP, opened my web by doing http://localcomputername/search.htm or
tried http://localip/search.htm and then saves it as
http://localcomputername/search.htm or http://localip/search.htm. No thing
changed.

2. However, if I tried opened and saved as http://publicIP/search.htm, it
works.

Questions and comments: 1. is this the way to publish the search feature? 2.
I always edit the web on my laptop and publish them to the server. Now, do I
do every thing on the laptop and edit search page only on the server? 3. My
internal computers may have problem to run the search page by using
http://localcomputername except I change the DNS records.

Thanks.

bob
