Hi

i have got a problem with my office. When ever i open a document that i
saved previously it seems to be coming up with symbols inserted all over the
page also when i type it seems to put dots in where ever it wants to. the
main symbol i am getting looks like a backwards P the a line beside that but
there are also random dots here and there. I am not shore why it is doing
this does any one have any ideas what it could be.

Many thanks

In addition to the other answers, to turn it off in all documents start a
blank document and then click the same symbol on the tool bar that you see
at the end of the paragraphs of text (Paragraph symbol). Close Word and
reopen it with one of your documents. Should be gone. If not, find and
delete the file normal.dot from your computer while Word is not running. It
will be recreated when Word is started the next time.

Paragraph symbol is located on Home tab of ribbon bar in Word 2007 and the
standard toolbar of Word 2003 and earlier.

Making sure a single document is open when turning off formatting marks (non
printing characters) is a good suggestion since the Single Document
Interface doesn't migrate the majority of the changes in Word Options to all
document windows. :)

But the view of formatting marks (non printing characters) is stored in the
Registry and not the Normal template so deleting the Normal template isn't
necessary.
