Problem with Templates in Word

Is there a Word or Windows update released in the last 2-3 months that could
cause Word Templates to function incorrectly? Specifically, if Word is
opened by an outside program, that program loads a file into Word, then tries
to attach a different template to the document, it fails, throwing error 5947
- Could not change document template.

This stopped working after windows update was ran on 11/10/09. Manually
uninstalling all the updates from that time period allowed the code to work,
but I cant tell our clients that in order to use our products they cant
update windows. I'd like to know which update is causing this problem, and
if there is a work-around I could use.

Check KB969604 and KB974561. We have experienced problems with both of these
updates and our application integration with Word templates.
