Problem with view in OE; Bug??

My wife just went back to visit her mother and found a weird bug on her
version of OE.

When using the preview pane, messages that are opened in a new window appear
blank and disappear when the window is closed. After that, they no longer
show up in the inbox, apparently gone forever.

Does anyone have suggestions? Running OS X for a few years now I'm tempted
to trash the preferences file. But that probably won't work for OS 9
applications.

You can try crating a new profile. Also check if the the view option is set
to "unread by Conversation". If this view is selected OE will show only the
unread mail and the mails once read disappears. PLeas elet us know which
version of OS X is being used. Also update all the currents updates from the
internet.
