Problem with Word attachments

What is going on when I send a word document and it
arrives on my colleague's pc as .winmail.dat? He can't
open the document. Also, there is a second attachment
ATT. Is this a virus or?? Thanks, Catherine

Are you sending using Rich Text Format (Tools-Options-Mail Format) to a
non-Outlook user?
