I have a problem trying to backup Outlook 2000 on a XP sys.
I create an export pst file and it is saved, but when I
try to retrieve this file it says the file does not exist.
I want to make a CD backup to protect all the addresses
and contacts. callwalt(removethis)@oro.net

First, don't export. With Outlook closed, just copy your PST to CD with
your CD burning program or with the built-in burning ability if you use
Windows XP. Then, if you ever need to get it back, copy it back to the HD
and remove the read-only attribute. You'll then be able to use
File>Open>Personal Folders File in Outlook to get it back.

By default on Windows 2000/XP, your PST is in a hidden folder:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. For
Windows 98 it's in in C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Of
course, PSTs can be anywhere you've placed them, so if you chose another
spot, that's where it'll be.
