I am having problems opening word and excel files now I have installed the

If you are using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton

I am having the same problem - and have disabled Norton but still have
problem loading files into Excel or Word - I can create workbooks and save
them but they cannot be recalled - and antovirus message appears. Will try

Add Publisher files. I can't open any files in any Office program. This
only started after the update.

This may seem like an obvious question, but have you restarted Windows after
you disable the Norton Office program scanning? When I disabled Norton, it
didn't work immediately, but it did after a restart.
