Problems fitting large diagram to page in Visio 2007

M

McFie

Hi

I am working on a set of process flows, and unlike on other visio files, I
am unable to resize to Fit to Page. Is there a setting somewhere that I need
to toggle (protection or similar?)

I thought perhaps that Visio itself may have stopped working but have
checked other files and sure enough - if my diagram goes over the page, and I
go to Page set up and select "fit to page 1 x 1" it resizes the diagram to
fit.

When I repeat on the file I am working on, nothing happens. I know I can
resize manually, but it is annoying I can't figure out why it sometimes
behaves one way, and other times another!

Thanks in advance for resolving this frustration!

Hi Fiona,

No idea why your fit-to-page isn't working. But you might try this hack
to get some output fast...

1. Select all (Ctrl+A) on your drawing page
2. Open a new 'regular-sized' drawing
3. Set the orientation, paper size, as you need it (so it fits your
printer...)
4. Edit > Paste Special
5. Choose: metafile or enhanced metafile (wmf or emf)

Now you'll have a 'dumb' graphic that you can resize without messing up
any of your Visio data.

You can use a similar technique using File > Save As. Save to a
high-resolution bitmap image, print, then delete the file.
