Problems from Presentations created on Service Pack 3 machines

Did job last week handling over 300 PP presentations form different
presenters. Ran into several problems on presentations created on PC's with
PP2002 & SP-3 installed when trying to play on other PC's running other
versions of PP (PP2002 SP-1 & 2 & PP2004).
Spacing anround hypnens goes bad (inserting extra spaces). Fix was to
sustitute symbol.
One particular presentation crashes on all other versions of PowerPoint.
These problems persisted even when resaving on original machines.

ppt2004...swapping between mac and pcs?
how were u doing the swapping usb key, disk, cd, network? could it be
that...
