I am having some problems importing a column of data into an Access table
from Excel.

1) The column/field is set to type=Text in Excel AND Access, and contains
just numeric or a combination of alpha-numeric characters (examples: 96202155
OR 96207008E)

2) The access existing but blank (structure only)

3) I had a problem with import errors, as it read the field numeric for the
import (because the first few records were numeric characters, but solved
this by sorting the spreadsheet so that the Alpha-numeric entries are first.
The sheet imports completely, but the problem I am having is below:

4) When I import the field, the 96207008E will import correctly, BUT the
96202155 looks like this in the Access Table = 9.62022e+007

Why would it be doing this? Versions are Excel 97 and Access 97

Thanks in advance.

Because of the E access thinks it is notation. Make the access table first
with the correct formated fields and import the data into it.
