Problems naming Excel 97 files

When I try to save an Excel file and give it a name it will only take the
first letter of the description or gives it a number instead of allowing me
to name it what I want to. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Check to see if Excel is running in Windows 95 compatibility mode.
