Problems opening database

I have created a database and placed it on our network server.

People are reporting problems with opening the database, specifically a
message on opening the database stating it is read only.

I have checked database properties - it is not read only, and have also
checked the permissions for the folder that it is stored in.

I will take this up with my IT department as an issue but was wondering
if anybody had an idea of why this might be occuring, e.g. a property
that I might have inadvertently set when creating the database?

You say that you have checked the permissions for the folder, but you don't
tell us what they are. Each user must have full permission (read, write,
delete, etc.)

I am having the same problem, and if I don't fix it
I won't be able to bill my new client.

More FYI on my predicament.
I did not set any permissions, or set up any
security.

I just created the database, zipped it, and emailed my client a copy.
We are both running Access 2002.

If anyone knows what might be causing this problem, it would be a big
help!

Please post more details about the actual problem. You replied to a
post that I no longer find on my server, and I don't have the time to
go to Google for it.

OK, I created a database in MS Access for a client.
Zipped it, and sent it to him.
Upon opening the database, he recieved a message saying that the db is
"read-only" and as such, he couldn't add or edit existing data.
At first I thought it might be a version problem but we are both
running Access 2002.
I even tried converting it to 2002 file format from the 2000 format it
was in, but that didn't change anything.
I have not set any security or permissions on the db that I know of.
Any ideas on what might be causing this.

It's a Windows (or WinZip maybe) problem, not an Access problem.

Right mouseclick the file in Windows Explorer, and view its
Properties.

Uncheck the Read Only checkbox which became set somewhere during this
process.

You should then be good to go.
