Problems Printing Very Large Powerpoint 2003 Presentations

Hi All

I have very large presentations which includes alot of pictures. The
average file size I am printing is between 100mb - 300mb. When I print the
job goes to the printer but takes absolutely ages to print or else crashes.
I also use Quark Express with similar file sizes and the files print no
problem. Currently I have to print batches of 10 at a time which again takes
forever. The print is now and very powerful so shouldn't have a problem
printing this type of info.

Any ideas on why this is happening with Powerpoint 2003 or any ideas on how
I can resolve it?

Thanks in Advance
Ailish

One possibility is that Microsoft creates a spool file of the printed
document. If your powerpoint file is so large than the spool file must be
really big and much harder for the computer to handle. There is really no
workaround except to print in pieces. You may want to examine the format of
your pictures when imported into powerpoint. JPG images can make a file
substantially smaller.
Good Luck

Make certain you have background printing turned off. This limits the
spooling size and *usually* corrects the problems with printing.
