Problems restoringoutlook settings after a Vista reinstall

Hi, I'm new here so apologies if this is answered elsewhere.
I've just reinstalled Vista on my laptop (jeeez! wish I hadn't started
that!) and i've been able to restore my old emails using the pst. data file.
However, I'm now having problems with my email settings (one profile won't
download emails even though the tests all complete successfully) so I
wondered if I could restore my settings from a back up or old.windows file?
Also, can I restore things like the templates for the email headers/footers
for each profile too or will I have to do these again?

I backed up on to DVD using the vista back-up tool though by the look of a
few posts here I should have bought some better back up software.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many settings for Outlook are in the registry. You can't open the copy of the
registry on the backup medium. It's usually best to create the Outlook
environment manually after a reinstall.
Also, can I restore things like the templates for the email headers/footers
for each profile too or will I have to do these again?

If you mean the Word templates, they're in
x:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Templates on the backup medium.
