Problems since reinstallation of Office 2003 Pro

Hi,

I recently had to reinstall Office 2003 Pro, as my entire computer crashed
and ended up having to reinstall almost all the programs.

Since reinstalling Office, I've had many problems - the main one though,
being that when I try to open any of the files/documents I'd done before the
crash and reinstall, it won't open - doesn't matter if it's excel, access,
powerpoint, publisher or word.

Anyone know what I can do? Also, most of these files appear as blue
filenames (not all, but most) but neither black nor blue ones will open.

Can you open the files in the application using File/Open? If not,
then what is the exact message you receive when you try to open the
file? If you don't encounter a message then what happens exactly?

Also, the files with the blue file names are compressed files.

The message that comes up is:

"The file <x> is not available." Where <x> is the filename.

It doesn't matter how you try to open them - they all show the same problem
- powerpoint, publisher, access, excel, word, etc.

No - I only reinstalled Office and the other programs I previously had
installed - Windows was not affected.

The PC crashed - I had to run HP recovery disks and take everything back to
its original state as it was shipped in order to get it working again.

Since you had to use the recovery disk I suspect your computer also
came with Norton AV? Take a look in the Norton Options and in the
Miscellaneous section turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".
