Problems upgrading Microsoft office key license

I have recently bought a new pc with vista (home basic) already downloaded
- I bought windows 2007 (home/student) separately and downloaded it.
My problem is that when I start any of the Microsoft applications the
license key is requested again. After typing the key an error message pops up
telling that the key is wrong and the application is locked.
Any help greatly appreciated
