problems using outline feature

when i am creating an outline my tab key no longer moves
the outline over. I was wondering if anyone knew how to
correct this. It is getting tedious using the increase,
decrese keys.

I am using microsoft word 2002 for office Xp. The

feature used to work but no longer will allow me to move
the numbering over it only moves over without indenting
and changing the numeral. Any help would be appreciated

Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type: Check the box for "Set
left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces."
