Problems with Access Upgrade

N

Nicole

I have the Microsoft Office XP Standards for Students and Teachers. I came w/ Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. I want to install Access. I bought the Access upgrade CD and I get the 1608 error. I thought if you had version of office on your PC you could upgrade. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to buy the entire Acess program separate? The access program by itself is over $200 while the upgrade is just over $100. When I bought the Standard version I was told that I can upgrade if I ever needed access. Not that I would have to buy the entire program. I I would have known that I would have just bought the Professional version. Please help. Please e-mail me at (e-mail address removed)

Hi, Nicole,

You can't upgrade different applications. In order to install the Access
upgrade, you must be upgrading Access. See if this helps:

290540 - OFFXP: Products That Qualify for the Microsoft Office XP Upgrade:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290540&Product=offxp

If you read down the article a bit, it gives you a list of products that
qualify for the Access upgrade.
