Problems with attaching files to outlook e-mail messages

While composing an e-mail in Outlook, I want to attach a word document (or
any type of document, for that matter). The 'My Documents' browse window
opens displaying available folders, but as soon as I click on one, the system
hangs. Virtually the same thing happens while working on a word document. If
I try to 'Save As' the systems hangs as soon as I begin browsing folders.

All MS Office 2003 apps hang when I attempt to browse to different locations.
Is there anything I can do other than reinstall MS Office?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
