problems with entourage

MacSilent

hi,

I'm a mac-user for several years and never had problems with software or
hardware.

Last week although, I came back of my holliday and imported my mails
with entourage. After a few minutes I shut down. At the evening I had
some time to read my mails and work but entourage didn't want to open.
When I removed the folder documents > Microsoft User Data > Office X
identities > Main identity (including my database from 2,87Gb) and start
up Entourage, it works without a problem. But all my mails are gone.
When I copy the file database to the new folder, it refuses to start the
program.

I searched the fora and newsgroupes and learnerd that I have to rebuild
the database but I'm not able to do this. Not in basic mode, not in
advanced mode.

An older copy of my database (I thought it was enough to copy this file
to have a backup), gave the same result.

Can anybody help me please?

My specifications:
Mac OS X
version 10.3.9
Processor: 1 Ghz PowerPC G4
Memory: 512 MB SDRAM

Entourage 10.1.6

greetings

It sounds like you might have exceeded your 4GB limit.

See this article on how.

Rebuilding a damaged database that exceeded size limit

In case the above link does not work:

Processor: 1 Ghz PowerPC G4
Memory: 512 MB SDRAM

I suspect you do not have the physical resources to rebuild.

If you are unable to rebuild after following directions you can contact me
off list to discuss a recover.

Send me an email:
