Problems with outline codes

Jeff Tunney

Hello,

We have a situation in which we are running Project Server 2002 and I am
trying to create and use Enterprise Outline Codes.

I am opening the Enterprise Global, renaming Enterprise Task Outline Code 1
to JobCode, and then populating the lookup table with a series of values.
So far so good. I then save the Enterprise Global, Close project and
restart Project Professional (using Windows authentication).

When I open a project (or create a new one) when I try to populate the Ent
Text field by using the lookup table, the values are blank. If I try to
enter a value Microsoft Project crashes and I get a message that says simply
"Microsoft Project encountered an error - the application will now close".

And that's it.

I can't figure out what the problem is here.

Can anyone advise ?

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff:

This problem and your post on the patch being applied leads me to believe
that troubleshooting your issues is going to take more than a quick
conversation in the news group.

Hi Gary,

The two are unrelated. One issue (outline codes) is on our production server
and the other (on our dev server) turns out not to be related to the patch
anyway (see other thread).

So - the issue re Outline Codes remains - and this server is not patched ! -
have you any advice ?

Regards

Jeff

Jeff:

I haven't seen the behavior you're reporting, nor have I seen it posted
here. Putting aside any applications conflicts on the server, the first
thing I'd do is stop and start IIS and see if the problem persists. Let us
know what errors you're seeing in the application log on the server as well.
