Problems with Publisher 2003

Anyone recognize this problem? Everytime I try to layout a text box or even
type text in an existing one, an error comes up. "Publisher cannot complete
the operation" It won't let me type anything. Should I just throw in my
towel with microsoft products or what? Getting frustrated.
