Problems with right margin

B

Bruce

I am trying to make a brochure to fit 9 x 17 paper. I can't get the right
margin to change to .3". It always tells me to fix and when I click fix it
goes back to 6.5".

How do I change to so that it will stay on .03"?

You can always say NO to the 'fix it' question. The issue is the printer
driver telling Word the minimum margins that the printer is capable of. Work
through all the settings on the Printer Properties dialog, on ALL the tabs.

Newer printers can print right to the edge, but with older machines you can
get a serious mess or actual damage if you print too close to the edge of
the paper.

Assuming your paper can print that close to the edge, ignore Word's offer to
"fix" the margins for you.

I'm guessing the printer attached to your computer cannot handle 9x17 paper,
but you're planning to print this later on a different printer? If so,
install the printer driver for the printer you will eventually use to print
this, and make it the currently selected printer while you work on this
document. Either that, or tell Word "no" or "ignore" when it asks you about
fixing the margins.
