Problems with RSS feeds

Hi All,

After playing ith Outlook 2007 BETA 2 for a little while I've noticed a
problem with RSS feeds. I can set up new RSS feeds and they will download
fine for the first time.

Subsequent requests to pull down updated RSS entries give this error:

Task 'RSS Feeds' reported error (0x8C540155) : 'Synchronization to RSS
Feed:"http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/rss.xml" has failed. Outlook cannot
download the RSS content from http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/rss.xml because
of a problem connecting to the server.'

Task 'RSS Feeds' reported error (0x8C540155) : 'Outlook cannot download the
RSS content from http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/rss.xml because of a problem
connecting to the server. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is
not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program.'

I have not yet tried a re-install.

Hi Gary,

MS is still trying to figure this bug out. The following *might* work:
1. Export all your RSS feeds as OPML (File, Import and Export).
2. Delete all folders in RSS subscriptions and with them all your RSS
feeds
3. Close Outlook
4. Delete the file ending in "sharing.xml.obi" in Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
5. Open Outlook again
6. Reimport your RSS feeds from the OPML file

Please let me know if this works or not.

Thanks,

Patrick Schmid

Hi Patrick,

Yes, that seems to have done it. I have also added an additional RSS
feed and thats working fine.

I'll know for certain.when additional postings are made and the RSS
feed has to pull those in.

Is there anywhere MS has that this bug can be reported/added to as I'm
happy to test it and any fixes.

And I spoke to soon. The problem went away for the afternoon and is
now back again. :-(

Hi Gary,

Can you post about this again in a few days? Maybe MS has come up with
any ideas by then.

Hi Gary,

Here is another suggestion you can try:

1) Copy the URL of 1 feed.
2) Remove that Feed & its folder
3) Exit Outlook
4) Start Outlook.
*IMPORTANT*
5) Before outlook does any syncs add the feed back in
6) let Outlook sync any mailboxes & RSS feeds.

#5 is the important one, you need to add the feed back in, before
Outlook
has a chance to Send/Receive any accounts. If Outlook does its
send/receive
first, then you need to exit Outlook & start over.

Please let me know if this works.

Patrick,

I've been having this problem as well. I tried the suggestion below and it
did allow all the other feeds to syncronize again. The only question is, how
long will it last.... :)
