Problems with windows configure when importing file

I always get the following error when importing a file into Access. Access
comes up with a small dialog box titled "DAO" with "Please wait while windows
configures DAO" and a progress bar. It always fails and creates a new dialog
box titled "DAO" with an error of "Error 1706. No valid source could be found
for the product DAO. The Window Installer cannot continue".

I have had this happen in other applications as well. But can not figure
out how to fix it. I have repaired Office, reinstalled Office both with the
same results. Usually I can figure out these problems with the online help
but this one has me baffled.

Any help would be appreciated. I am running Windows XP Professional, Office
XP Professional, AMD64 Athlon with 1GB memory. Thanks for the guidance.
