problems

i cant recieve email.

i have recently installed Norton Antivirus and some anti-
spyware products, could this be the cause?

Norton should'nt cause problems, particularly if you used the default
install.
Allthough have you ensured its updated with latest paches etc. There was a
problem with early versions of Norton, but this was usually on the send.
You can disable Norton and test.
Certain Spyware products can remove settings that are needed by apps, in
order that they function.
I tend to use Adaware v6, gives no problems
