Processing mail never completes

Have a setup where outlook client checks Exchange server then POP3 external
mail address. For some reason it almost always get stuck at porcessing the
external mail and either never completes processing or takes a few minutes
before starting to download emails.

This happens on all PCs in this location Outlook XP or Outlook 2003, there
is permanent internet access.

any ideas would be appreciated

Do you get any error messages?

OT, but I'd get away from having POP mail in your clients. Have Exchange
handle all your mail. It's a lot more efficient, faster, lets you scan
inbound/outbound mail for viruses at a single point using your
Exchange-aware antivirus software, lets users use OWA, etc. Also a lot
easier from an admin standpoint.
