Producing FP wesite that passses XHTML 1.0 Transitional validation?

I have created a smallish website (50 page) for a customer without using
CSS. It works fine in the few browsers I have tried. But I want to
eventually use CSS and get it to the point that it validates under XHTML 1.0
Transitional (W3C) criteria. I am in the process of learning CSS. I also
want to eventually use Expression Web. What I am wondering is can I meet
these goals step-wise - that is to do the CSS redo in FrontPage where it
validates at the transitional level and then go to the next step of
migrating to Expression Web? What do you recommend? Is it reasonable to do
this in 2 steps so I can learn 1 thing at a time or should I bite the bullet
and learn CSS and Expression Web at the same time and skip the redo with CSS
in FrontPage?

Any suggestions appreciated. This is a great group.

It is possible to create an XHTML compliant website using Frontpage. Of
course, you might need to go in and "fix" some of the source code.

I would really consider downloading the trial version of Expression Web to
see the code it creates. Knowing and understanding the HTML and CSS basics
will help you in the long run
