Product Activation problem

When I click on the product activation program under the
Start menu, the screen appears but I get the message 'Wait
while screen intializes'. It will sit there for an
eternity until I close it (I have waited for 15 minutes
and nothing - no form or error messages appear).

I am at my witts end .... what do I do next.

I am using MS Works Suite 2004 on Windows XP.
