Hi
I had to send back a macbook to Apple, it was replaced with a new one
but my copy of Office Mac was lost. I used a second product key when
installing on the new macbook.
I have a copy on my Imac G5 ( so thats the three used up ) that I want
to format and start afresh, this also has Office on. If I format will
I have to buy a new software as all my product keys will be used.

No,
Just re-use the same product keys, provided that the previous copy has
been removed there is nothing stopping you installing fresh copies with
the product keys you own, including the key used on the one that was
returned to Apple.
So long as you don't use the same key on more than one machine at any
time you can re-install as often as you want, your licence entitles you
to use Office on 3 machines, it does not prevent you from changing the
machines it is on.
