Seeking to reinstall Office have found CDs for two upgrades (registered with
Microsoft) but have no original CD since it came installled on hard drive and
with new motherboard they will not supply a copy of Office. Microsoft tech
support sent me to them. Anyone seen a workaround for this?

You have four choices -- choose one or several of these options:
1. Purchase a current full version MS Office from your favorite
retailer.
2. Purchase an older full version of MS Office from which to upgrade.
3. Purchase a suite of office applications from one of Microsoft's
competitors.
4. Obtain one of the several free suites of office applications.

You post that you have "CDs for two upgrades". You did not post what
versions for which you have upgrade CDs. If the CDs are for two different
versions of Office and the older version is a qualifying product for the
later version, you can use the upgrade CD for the older version to install
the newer version. You just use the CD when asked for a qualifying product.
The older version does not need to be installed.

Example. If you have a upgrade CD for Office XP and Office 2003, the Office
XP upgrade CD can be used to install Office 2003.
