Professional Advice

This one goes out to those who make their livings as
independent developers, particularly Access developers.

I've been working as an Access developer for about 7
years. While I've had a couple gigs that were technically
full-time jobs that lasted a couple of years, mostly I've
been doing contract work through a variety of consulting
companies. Basically techie temp agencies.

That's been okay, but lately I've been getting some
interesting feedback about project-oriented bid sites,
such as guru.com (formerly itmoonlighter.com).

It looks good, and I've spotted several opportunities that
I'm more than qualified for. When the gig that I'm on now
wraps up, I'm thinking about getting my certs, making the
leap, and going that route. Maybe do most of my work out
of my home.

I'm hoping to get some feedback from other professionals
who have been down this road ahead of me. Anyone out there
have experience getting work this way? Is it possible to
get consistant work this way, or if you're independent,
how to you go about marketing yourself?

Thanks!
